HUD Progress

The HUD area exists and I just finished and uploaded a proof of concept icon. Up next: an army of icons to form the basic HUD.

Hey everyone!  It's Kevin again, just wanted to echo what Emily and Jordan said.  I've helped a bit, with getting the beginning of the game set up, putting in sprites, all of those important first step tasks.

And like Emily said, we're not working on the tool set anymore, instead focusing on the RPG.  There will be a heavy focus on the combat and story, both of which we've started to flesh out, and I'm excited to get those aspects into the game!  The combat will involve jumping between members of your party and being able to use their various powers, real time, which should make for some interesting strategy and play.  But alas, first we need those little things like sprites and movement...  but we're getting there!
Hey everyone.

So the changes that we hinted at are now in effect.  Our game has changed to a short RPG, without the tool portion.  We will be focusing on the gameplay and story aspects of our game.  Right now, we are doing the initial coding for the game, which includes loading sprites, and basic player input to move the character around.  By the end of the week we will have the basic HUD with place-holder assets.

Good news, everyone! We now have a single, player-controlled character walking around the screen. The player can use the arrow keys to move the warrior up, down, left, right, and diagonally. Both the background image and the character animations are also present. There's a few minor bugs, but this is still good progress.

Concept Art - Now With COLOR!

So here is one of the characters colored! I used Photoshop to color the sketch of the Warrior Female.

I'd love to know what you think!

Kevin's Intro!

Hey!  First time blogging (so I hope I'm doing this right).  As you can probably guess, I'm the last member of the team, Kevin.  I'm another programmer, and gonna be writing a lot for the project, whether it be on the story side or documenting what we're working on.

I don't really have much to say about the project right now, other than we're working on revamping it.  We'll get more details for you soon.

Introduction

Hi everyone. I'm Jordan, and I am the Lead Designer and one of the programmers for our project. I've basically been fleshing out gameplay and the technical details of our game. Right now I'm setting up a starting libGDX project to push to our SVN repository. libGDX is a 2D game engine for development in Java. The plan is to have that up by Monday, so we can begin actually coding. Although our focus has shifted recently, the code structure we were planning shouldn't change much, so we can still start coding on time.

Introduction

Hi guys,
Eyleen [or Phoenix] here. I'm one of this team's four programmers. The code monkey, if you will. With the changes Emily mentioned, my job description might change a bit.
I know this isn't much, but there really aren't that many ways to say "I'm one of the guys hammering out the code."

Introduction

Hey all,
My name is Emily and I'm the producer and one of the programmers for this project.  What this means is that I am the one in charge of making sure that all of the tasks get done properly in a timely manner.  I will also be in charge of testing our product, so if anyone is interested in becoming a playtester, contact me.

Currently our project is undergoing a huge shift in direction, but by Monday we will have it sorted out and will post the details.

Sam Stadtlander - Artist

Hey all, I'm Sam! I'm the artist for the team, as well as setting up this blog. I have a separate blog for ALL of my art, but all art for our project will be posted here as well.

My Art Blog: Sam (aka Kazul)'s Art

Here is the concept art I came up with for our play controlled characters:

Who We Are & What We're Doing.

So this blog is to record the progress of our MQP (senior project). All sorts of updates will be posted here, from new art, to test versions of our product.

Who We Are:

Eyleen Graedler (Phoenix) - Programmer
Kevin Mann (Kevin) - Programmer, Scribe
Emily Miller (Emily) - Producer, Programmer
Samantha Stadtlander (Kazul) - Artist, Blog Manager
Jordan Vishniac (Jordan) - Lead Programmer

What We're Doing:

Our project is a top down, 2D Role Playing Game with tactical party based combat.  This is accompanied by a tool which allows the player to create their own story that they or other players can experience.  Users will be able to add their own characters, dialogue, and scenes to the game to play through.  Players traverse the world by moving between tiles, called scenes, where they may fight enemies or interact with NPCs.
